Goals have to be unrealistic to be effective

realitycheck You’ll have heard this mantra a lot. And I am not a fan of it as it is too simplistic. We all once had the goal of staying up late and watching TV with our parents. Maybe that was unrealistic for a few but not for the many. For them it was realistic and they achieved it, eventually all did.

So what’s unrealistic about it? This sort of saying is why so many people simply do not get goal setting to work. They set unrealistic goals, don’t achieve them, are embarrassed by them, only try to believe them, don’t even get to the believe stage which is miles behind the know stage and then they lose interest and give up. Why do you think 99% fail with creating their design?

This sort of saying must always be kept in context, as in context this saying is perfectly reasonable. I can set unrealistic goals all day long because I have created unrealistic success. I therefore know it is achievable. Please Login or REGISTER to read the rest of this content.
