For example, as I’ve said before, the reason New Years resolutions do not work is because they are all about the things which people don’t want. So when you are designing, lose any such as, “I am out of debt”.

Now I know this is stated correctly, but predominantly it is about something which you do not want. I remember when I set my goal to be out of debt. It was in 1991 and I was £15,000 in debt. That was a lot of money back then! It was about the equivalent of one year’s income after tax.

But I am the one exception to the rule I ever met. It worked for me because I knew what I desired, I worked diligently towards the goal and I delayed gratification by changing my lifestyle. I visualised the benefit of being out of debt and hung onto that. Please Login or REGISTER to read the rest of this content.
